Our clump of Hans Hansen’s hybrid, Baptisia ‘American Goldfinch’ looked quite outstanding this April. This is a 4 year old clump from a 1 quart pot. Hardiness is Zone 4a-9b.

I am always ‘pushing the envelope’ on heat zones in my Gulf Coast garden with some pleasing results (and as expected, disappointing failures as well). Long have I drooled over your Baptisia!
Any suggestion on a hybrid that may have the DNA to surviving 10a? (Preferably with a fall planting)? We are lucky to get a frost here.

That’s a great question. I’m not sure any of the baptisias will survive without a winter chill, but it would be interesting to experiment.
