Ammocharis corranica

Ammocharis corranica11

I’ll bet most folks haven’t heard of Ammocharis coranica…your loss.  We grew this amazing crinum lily relative for years before we saw it in the wilds of South Africa, where it grew in roadside ditches along a small section of our route.  Here’s a photo from the gardens today…it thrived though our brutal NC winter.  Full to part sun and decent drainage…darn easy to grow and one of my all-time favorite bulbs.  How far north will it grow?  We really don’t know past 0 degrees F.
