The Flowery Gates of JLBG

We’ve been working on upgrading many of the temporary gates throughout the garden, our first few, which went in this year are all designed by NC sculptor Jim Gallucci, from photos we took in the JLBG Gardens. We all need more art in our gardens…Enjoy!

Purple color echos

Here’s a photo we took right before our first big freeze of the year, with the purple-foliaged perennial, Tradescantia pallida and our Iris ensata gate, built by NC sculptor Jim Gallucci. Gardens are an amazing canvas on which to paint with both plants and structures.

Squirrel-skin Cap

One of the Jim Phillips sculptures at JLBG decided they needed something to keep its head warm, so it added this life-like squirrel-skin cap. Nature never ceases to entertain.

Art in the Garden

Art is subjective! Whether in a museum, your home, or the garden, art can be aesthetically pleasing , functional, and whimsical. There is art that will fit into every garden situation. Here are a few examples from the garden yesterday.

Birdbath – Aesthetics and Functionality
“Free Form” – Japanese Pyrophyllite Sculpture – Jim Phillips Sculpture

During the second weekend of our Fall Open Nursery & Garden Days Jim & Kathy Phillips will have a booth set up with pottery, stone sculptures & garden art. Find the perfect artistic element to fit your garden.
